How is leave encashment calculated in UAE?+
Leave encashment is calculated based on your basic salary (not total salary). Daily rate = Basic monthly salary ÷ 30. Encashment amount = Daily rate × Number of unused leave days. Under UAE Labour Law, employees are entitled to 30 calendar days of annual leave per year after completing one year of service.
Can I be paid for unused leave in UAE?+
Yes. Upon end of service, UAE employees are entitled to payment for any accrued but unused annual leave days. This applies whether you resign, are terminated, or your contract expires. The payment is based on your basic salary rate at the time of leaving.
What is the annual leave entitlement in UAE?+
Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021: employees who have completed 6 months but less than 1 year receive 2 days leave per month worked. Employees who have completed 1 year or more receive 30 calendar days per year. Public holidays are not counted as annual leave days.
